Ilam

The word Ilam is derived from Limbu language. It I composed of two words ‘li’ means twisted and ‘lam’ means road. Ilam is a district out of 77 districts. It is one of the 14 districts of Kirat in eastern Nepal. This region was an independent Limbu kingdom till 1869 BS. It covers an area of 1703 square km. There was a population of 290,254 according to Nepal census 2011.
